Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Some are required for the site to function — without a session cookie you would be signed out on every page. Others are optional.

Worth knowing

Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent under UK and EU law, because the service cannot be provided without them. Everything else does — and we set none of it until you say yes.

Third-party cookies

We embed Google’s tag, which covers Google Analytics and Google Ads. It is what lets us see which pages are used and which adverts actually bring people here. We do not embed social widgets or any other third-party tracker, and we do not show adverts on this site.

Stripe may set cookies on its own checkout pages during payment; those are governed by Stripe’s policy.

If you say no

Google’s tag still loads, and it is worth being straight about why and about what that does and does not mean. With advertising and analytics declined it is told so before it starts, and it then stores nothing at all — no cookies, no identifier for you, no advert personalisation, and advert click references are stripped from the requests it makes. What it does still do is send Google a request containing your IP address and the page you are on, with no way to connect it to you or to any other visit.

The reason we do that rather than not loading it is that it is the only way the count works at all in Europe: Google discards conversions that arrive with no consent information attached, so a tag that stayed silent would not be protecting you, it would just make the product unmeasurable. If you would rather nothing was sent, a content blocker or your browser’s tracking protection will stop the request outright, and nothing on this site depends on it.

Changing your mind

You can change or withdraw your choices at any time — withdrawing is as easy as giving consent in the first place.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop you being able to sign in.
